Mr. Spencer Walker, recently retired Director, Special Projects, Mauser Packaging Solutions, and
former Chair of the Reusable Industrial Packaging Association, has been selected by his industry
peers to receive the 2021 Morris Hershson Award of Merit. Mr. Walker will be given the award
at the Grant Hotel in San Diego, CA at the association’s 80th Annual Conference October 12-14, 2022.
RIPA presents the prestigious award to an individual for “distinguished and longstanding service”
to the reusable industrial packaging industry.
The Morris Hershson Award of Merit commemorates Mr. Hershson who was President of RIPA
(then called the National Barrel and Drum Association) for 35 years until his death in 1985. Mr.
Hershson is credited with developing the association into a leading advocate for the
reconditioning industry in North America and playing a leading role in the creation of the
International Confederation of Container Reconditioners (ICCR).
“I could not be more pleased with this selection,” said RIPA Chair Tim O’Bryan. “Spencer, together
with his wonderful wife, Melony, have helped make our association a strong voice for the
industry and, no less importantly, a warm and welcoming organization.”
