For the first time in 2 years, the Chemical Packaging Committee (CPC) convened an in-person biennial meeting in Treasure Island, FL February 9-11, 2022 Attendance was strong and interest ran very high in the agenda and CPC’s projects. Significantly, CPC had just been named Technical Committee of the Year by its parent organization: Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). Other agenda items included work on a training module for packaging professionals, a guidance document on closure instructions, and alternative test methods for certain packagings. The next meeting of the CPC will be September 12-14, 2022 in Herndon (Dulles), VA. Traditionally, the September meeting features an extensive, in-person session with the leaders and other key personnel from DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PMSA). RIPA’s Technical Director attends all CPC meetings and currently serves as Secretary / Treasurer. Most of the industrial packaging industry, as well as the chemical manufacturers, also attend regularly. Membership in CPC is officially on an individual basis, rather than by company.
