See HERE RIPA’s official comments on a proposal from FMCSA to make mandatory the use of Electronic Logging Devices in demonstrating compliance with drivers’ Hours-of-Service rules.   RIPA recommends that the definition of “short haul drivers” – who would be exempt from the requirement – be amended by dropping the distance limit of a 100-air mile radius.  The timing of a final rule is not currently known.
